My Latest Kitchen Obsessions from Kohler - The Blanco Bungalow.jpg

Ahhhh the kitchen is finally done! And today, I’m sharing today all about my latest obsession, our new kitchen sink and faucet from Build with Ferguson. But before I do that, I wanted to catch you up on the kitchen renovation (in case you may be new here).

When I first started re-conceptualizing our kitchen, I knew I wanted the new space to feel earthy, organic, and grounded. Our previous kitchen felt very choppy, dysfunctional, and uninspiring. It had elements of the original 1920s kitchen, but with some bad updates, like broken Home Depot floor tiles, no home for a modern-day refrigerator, a small sink, a 1980’s faucet, hardly any counter space etc.

The new kitchen needed to be something different. Something much more special than your normal plug-and-play kitchen, while also blending seamlessly with the existing Spanish style. There’s so much incredible craftsmanship already in the bones of our house, that I felt like we owed it to our home and its original builders to do something special.

However, we also wanted to keep costs low. We decided to put our dollars towards craftsmanship over cookie cutter, and opted to keep most of the original footprint of the kitchen. Moving the dishwasher, the refrigerator, and extending the countertops to wrap around the stove, adding much more counter space and flow. And after much research and debate over plaster vs. cement, I designed a cement + micro cement concept from scratch. The hardest part was figuring out how to construct the cabinet bases, but I’ll write more about that in a separate post. It may haven taken three months, but it was completely worth the wait.

Once I settled on an overall design, it was time to choose fixtures. When choosing a kitchen sink and faucet, the first brand I thought of was Kohler. I have Kohler Purist fixtures in my shower, and I’m equally as obsessed with them today as I was the day we installed them. So when I began to source, I immediately hopped in the car and drove to the Ferguson Showroom in Santa Monica. They have such an incredible selection of high-end, quality kitchen and bath fixtures. I’m so grateful that I live close by and was able to see everything in person.

However, if you don’t live close to a Ferguson Showroom, you can easily shop all of their incredible products from the comfort of your own home, on their website, Build with Ferguson.

After agonizing over all of the beautiful options, I chose the Kohler Crue Faucet. It has the perfect blend of classic and modern. I also love the pull-down feature and sprayer, its so easy to clean out the sink now. The brushed brass ties in perfectly with the rest of our home’s aesthetic.

I mean how stunning?

And can we please talk about the sink? Our previous sink was 24” wide and was totally fine, but if we were going to upgrade, I wanted a serious upgrade! I chose the Riverby 33” Under-mount Sink also from Kohler. I’m not kidding when I say that I HATED doing dishes until this sink. No joke. Like, I actually LOVE doing the dishes now. Seriously, who am I? Lol.

Another favorite feature of mine, are all of the accessories that come with this sink. The wire tray at the bottom keeps the sink so much cleaner, and it also doubles as a dish drying rack. This sink is so efficient, I can’t even tell you. You’ll have to see for yourself.

I can’t even tell you how inspiring my kitchen is now.

All I want to do is cook, bake, juice, rinse, repeat.
