Yes, we highly recommend renting a car. While the ocean and village are nearby, having a car makes it much easier to explore the coastline, surf breaks, and nearby towns.
Try to rent from within the airport for added convenience.

We do not. Ubers are readily available, and we have a private drive available for hire if needed.
The PROPERTY

Blanco Bungalow is our family home & farm. We live on site, and have two Casas & two Casitas we rent out for holiday rentals.

Unless the entire property is reserved, some outdoor spaces such as the pool and poolhouse may be shared with other guests staying on the property.

Yes! At Blanco Bungalow, we have a natural wine & gift shop on site, Bodega. We stock natural & organic wine locally made ceramics, merch & more.

Yes. The ocean and coastal cliffs are a 5 minute walk away, making it easy to enjoy sunset walks.

We are in a little fishing village, the beach directly in front is rocky, but at low tide you can access beautiful sandy coves.

Yes we have a few restaurants in our village within walking distance and many others just a short drive away.

We have a market and butcher in our village you can walk to, and for larger shops there are markets within 5 and 10 minutes.

Yes! Our coastline is home to prehistoric dinosaur footprints preserved in the rock formations along the shore, we even have prints in the ocean rocks behind the farm you can see at low tide.

Yes we are located in the Torres Vedras Wine region and there are so many great wineries, as guests at the Blanco Bungalow, we can book wine tastings at a few select biodynamic wineries that aren´t well known to the public.

If you crave a truly authentic Portuguese experience, this is the place. We are in a small fishing village with rich history, a bit off the beaten path, where English is not spoken. The people hear are simple, kind and authentic, as is the life.

Blanco Bungalow is conveniently located in the heart of the best surf in Portugal. We are 5 minutes south of Santa Cruz, 10 minutes north of Ericeira surf breaks, 45 minutes south of Peniche 1 hour south of Nazare.

Yes, if you are an intermediate to advanced surfer, we have surf guide available for hire to take you to all the best breaks for your skill level and guide you around the area.

Yes, we work with a great local rental company who can get you set you up with everything you need.

Yes! We work with a great local surf school and can book surf lessons for you. They offer all levels, private, semi-private and group lessons.
planning your stay

Blanco Bungalow is beautiful year-round. Spring and fall offer mild weather less crowds and quieter beaches, summer brings beautiful hot sunny days, more visitors and a vibrant energy to the area.
We are open seasonally, April - October.

We recommend comfortable clothing, plan on layers for cool mornings and evenings, beachwear, sun protection (hat & sunglasses) and good comfortable walking shoes - the Calçada can be very slippery!

The climate here is mild and coastal. Summers are warm and sunny, while mornings and evenings can be cool year-round due to the ocean breeze. In Spring & Fall we can get occasional showers here and there.

Yes! We have an outdoor wood-fired sauna and cedar ice bath available to book at an additional cost. Please note: our sauna is wood fired and takes time to heat, and the ice bath is chilled with ice and takes time to chill.

We have put together a curated list of things to do with kids, and upon booking, we will share that list with you.

It depends. Wine tasting should be booked about a month in advance, the surf lesson schedule is posted weekly, so a week or two in advance is good. Sauna sessions can be booked throughout your stay.

Credit cards are not accepted. Typically instructors or guides accept local cards or cash - in most cases with international travelers, they do not have local cards, so please have cash (euros) on hand. Payment is always due prior to the service.
farm life & animals

Blanco Bungalow is home to shetland ponies, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks.

Yes, our animals are used to guests and typically very friendly.

Yes. Blanco Bungalow is a working farm and located in a small rural village. You will hear roosters crowing in the morning, dogs barking occasionally and neighboring animals. Its an authentic Portuguese farm experience.

No, while some of our animals roam freely around the farm we do not allow any of them inside the houses or the poolhouse.

Yes, we just ask that you please do not feed any of them, and always approach them calmly and treat them respectfully.

Yes! We compost on site. If you would liek to contribute food scraps, we welcome them and can guide you on what to include/not include.
Booking

As a small, family-run farmstay operating on a seasonal basis, all reservations are final and we are unable to offer cancellations. We strongly recommend that guests purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances such as travel disruptions, illness, or changes to travel plans.

Yes. Aside from our family (who lives on site), The Blanco Bungalow can be booked exclusively and can sleep up to 12-14 guests. Email us to inquire.

Practical Questions

Yes, Children are welcome at Blanco Bungalow. The property is designed as a calm tranquil countryside retreat, and we kindly ask that children remain supervised by an adult at all times and respect the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of the farm.

Meals are not included, all of our rentals are self-catering, but we’re happy to recommend wonderful local restaurants and markets nearby.
