The Blanco Bungalow is 101 years old now, and we still have original nob and tube electrical. We also have zero ceiling lights in the living room or bedrooms. Therefore, I’ve had to get creative with lighting solutions.

Swag lights have been the best solution thus far, but good ones are so hard to find. I’ve had this incredible brass plug in swag light from Etsy that hangs in one corner of my living room, but the company has sadly gone out of business. I wanted something that would compliment the existing fixture, but everything I tried that wasn’t brass, ended up looking too bohemian or too shabby chic.

However, after scouring the internet, I found the Mojna Pendant from Ikea, and it’s probably one of the coolest lights I’ve found in a while. Plus it’s $16.00!!! What? It also casts this incredible flower pattern on the ceiling at night.

If you’re going to install a Hanging Swag light, I definitely recommend adding a plug in dimmer switch. I wish they would come out with a beautiful cord kit with a built in dimmer, but maybe they have and I just haven’t found it. But 100%, a dimmer is a must!

On my hunt for the perfect swag light, I did find some incredible contenders. Scroll down to see some other amazing options.
